launched its Standards
Map
website (www.standardsmap.org):
an interactive tool to review and analyse private standards.
Working
in close relationship with 60 Private Sustainability
Standards organizations, ITC has included Information
and data in Standards

covering
the standards and codes’ requirements, enforcement
processes, audit and certification/verification mechanisms.
These standards collectively operate in more than 200
countries and certify or verify over 80 different product

SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT FOR THE NEXT TWENTY YEARS UNITED STATES
VIEWS ON RIO+20 United States SUBMISSION TO THE UNITED
NATIONS ON NOVEMBER 1, 2011 We
recognize that sustainable development offers pathways out of
short-term disruptions, such as financial shocks, and
long-term challenges, such as climate change. We are also
committed to spurring developments in science and innovation
through the use of incentive systems; investments in
education, the workforce, and basic research; and promoting
innovative, open, and competitive markets, supported by strong
protection for intellectual property rights and transparent,
science-based, regulatory approaches and standards.
Respect for international obligations as we chart a future
course for sustainable development is also critical. |
| To
learn more about architectural challenges the IAB held a
workshop 'Interconnecting Smart Objects with the Internet'
prior to the IETF 72 meeting in Prague and published a report
soon afterwards. The
report illustrates some of the challenges the industry is
facing in an attempt to improve interoperability in areas
where IP has not been used before. IETF
82 will devote its technical plenary Monday
November 14 1700 - 1915 Technical Session:
"Interconnecting Smart Objects with the
Internet" to the topic of smart objects and
will summarize the workshop and solicit feedback from the
wider IETF community |

March 2011 USTR published
the 2011
National Trade Estimate Report on Foreign Trade Barriers (NTE)
the twenty-sixth in an annual series that surveys significant
foreign barriers to U.S. exports. The
report describes
barriers to trade in 60 nations, the European Union, and the
Arab League. The report contains descriptions of the IP
landscape in each of the countries covered, and often notes
“concerns” about perceived weakness in enforcement.
The introduction describes the report as a statutorily
required “inventory of the most important foreign barriers
affecting U.S. exports of goods and services, foreign direct
investment by U.S. persons, and protection of intellectual
property rights.
There are 24 references to standards in the report.
The report refers to The
United States Trade Representative's two
important earlier compilations of non tariff barriers to trade
facing US Exporters
