I           Project Objective

The Japan Standards Association (JSA) contracted with GTW Associates to collect information concerning Conformity Assessment Organizations in the North American Marketplace: Canada; Mexico; and the United States.  JSA sought to determine the numbers of testing laboratories, product certification organizations and personnel certification programs as well as the number of these three types of organizations that are accredited by an independent process.  Further JSA desired information about scale and scope of operation of representative example organizations in these categories
